The German market remains the undisputed “bellwether” for global balcony PV. Data shows that balcony PV registrations in Germany reached 435,000 units in 2024, an increase of over 300% compared to 2023. By the end of June 2025, registered units had exceeded 1 million. The total number of balcony PV kits installed in 2024 surpassed 800,000 units — ten times the 2022 figure.
The Chinese market, while starting later, shows considerable growth potential. According to estimates from Trina Home, about 1,000 balcony PV systems were installed in China in 2024, a figure expected to rise to 10,000 in 2025 and potentially leap to 100,000 in 2026, moving from niche to mainstream consumption. At present, at least 29 domestic companies in China have entered the balcony PV product space, covering the entire industrial chain including modules, inverters, and mounting brackets.

Germany officially passed the much-anticipated “Solar Package I” in April 2024, significantly simplifying the installation process for balcony PV. Notably, the final German plan did not include the “Made in Europe” premium (the so-called “resilience bonus”), creating a more competitive environment for Chinese-made PV mounting brackets and other products entering the European market.

Lightweight breakthroughs became a core trend.
